Meribel

Meribel is one of the Three Valleys, all of which can all be skied on by purchasing one general ski pass, available at daily rates, and then periods of 5 days and upwards. The Three Valleys reach a peak of more than 3200m which more than safely guarantees good snow all season round, as well as a long season, typically ending in mid-late May. The valleys offer over 640km of runs, and countless off piste runs as well, meaning the resort suits beginners needing lessons on the nursery slope as much as experts who wish to push themselves physically and mentally on the black runs and off piste. Meribel is also great for snowboarding, with three ski parks and excellent runs perfect for beginners. The Apres-Ski opportunities in the region are vast, ranging from bars and pubs to traditional restaurants and modern eateries, making it a great place for your ski holiday.

The hotels in the region are of excellent standard, from small secluded ones to large scale tourist ones. There are advantages and drawbacks of both, for example a smaller hotel will give a more private and cosy holiday whilst the larger scale places to stay offer more in terms of nightlife and things to do, often arranging activities such as quiz nights and even snowball fights! There are also a fair number of chalets to rent in the region, some small enough for a four person family and some large enough for groups of up to fifteen friends, and almost all are self catering, but for those on a larger budget you can stay in a catered chalet.

In the summer Meribel is still a lovely place to visit, quieter than in its thriving winter season but with a load of activities on offer such as mountain biking, hiking and the usual local amenities of restaurants, bars, cinemas and swimming pools. The high altitude makes the summer a good time to escape the heat and humidity further down the mountain whilst still enjoying the summer sun. Whatever time of year, Meribel is a great place to visit, either for a winter ski break or a summer holiday and there’s always plenty to see.
