Ski Essentials

Ski Area

There are few places that rival Alpe d'Huez for the extent and variety of ski terrain.

Covering an area of 10,000 hectares the domain boasts 249km of linked pistes and an altitude range of 2,230m. A vast array of green runs above Alp d’Huez village caters for beginners and the “magic carpet” in Oz en Oisans is well suited for children to test out their first pair of skis. The main attraction for experts and intermediates is the Sarenne run. This 16km run is the longest black run in Europe.

Here are all the ski runs in the Alp d'Huez (Grand Domaine) region.

Pic Blanc (3330m), is the highest point of the ski area, offering breathtaking views of the Alps including Mont Blanc, Mont Cervin and the Meije. On a clear day a fifth of France can be seen from this point.

Whatever your skiing style or choice of ski speciality, come and join the ski professionnals who know how to teach you the essential techniques whilst making it a pleasure all the way

Also you may consider having private lessons with an ESF instructor, they are available between the normal group lessons (between 12 and 2) on the quieter weeks.

The best instructors last year were Alice, Laurence, Franck or Jeremy. You will need to pay in advance but it would be well worth it.

Lift Pass

With the VISALP ski passes you don't need to show your ski pass at the ski lift: when you ski by the starting point of the lift, your pass is detected and checked automatically, as long as it is in the left pocket of your jacket.

With a full area pass you also get free entry to the swimming pools in the area and other facilities, like the museum in Alpe d’Huez.

The ski passes can be brought from the tourist information office in the Poutran lift.

If you plan to buy a Ski pass that lasts for more than 9 days you will need to get a passport size photo.

For more information about lift pass prices and to order online please visit the official Oz-Vaujany Site. If you would like to get a family pass, which offers a discounted rate for 2 adults and 2 or more children (aged between 5-19 years old), you must order this online at least 10 days in advance.
